This policy explains how velnotes.com uses cookies and similar storage technologies.

1. What is a Cookie?

A cookie is a small data file stored in your browser by websites. VelNotes may also use localStorage for equivalent technical purposes.

2. Cookie Categories

2.1 Strictly necessary (always active)

Required for security, remembering your cookie choices, and core website functionality. The page may also read the language value in the URL to display the correct interface language (Turkish, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Arabic or French); this does not require storage and is evaluated on the client only.

Fonts, icons and the App Store badge are served from velnotes.com itself. Only the home pages load part of their content through Google Firebase (www.gstatic.com, firestore.googleapis.com); when your browser fetches it, your IP address and browser information are sent to Google.

2.2 Preferences (consent-based)

Stores user preferences such as language settings. When this category is enabled, the selected language may be saved locally on the device; when disabled, the site relies only on the language value present in the URL and does not persist a language preference.

2.3 Analytics (consent-based)

Used to count visits. Disabled unless you enable this category. When it is enabled, each page view sends the page path, the referring site and a random visitor ID to our server on Google Firebase. The server derives the country/region from request headers, computes a hash that changes daily from the visitor ID, your IP address and browser user-agent to count unique visitors, and uses your IP address to limit abusive request rates.

2.4 No marketing cookies

velnotes.com does not use marketing, advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

3. Main Keys Used

velnotes-cookie-consent-v1: stores your consent preferences.
velnotes-lang: stores language preference when preference category is enabled.
velnotes_site_visitor_v1: keeps a randomly generated pseudonymous ID in your browser's localStorage for visit statistics; it is created only after you allow analytics. The server does not store this ID itself, only the daily-changing hash described in 2.3.
velnotes_site_visit_throttle:*: stores a short-lived timestamp in sessionStorage to throttle repeated analytics sends for the same page.

You can choose categories in the cookie panel, which appears until you make a choice. You can change your choices or withdraw your consent at any time via Cookie settings at the bottom of every page; withdrawing does not affect visits counted before. You can also clear or block cookies from browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some functions.

5. Legal Basis

Strictly necessary storage relies on service necessity and legitimate interests. Optional categories rely on user consent.

6. Policy Updates

This policy may be updated due to legal or technical changes. Updated text becomes effective upon publication.
