VelNotes explains how your notes, data, and future AI layer are handled.

This page is a plain-language companion to the legal documents. The Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and applicable data notices remain the source of truth; this page gives users and answer engines a quick, practical summary.

Local-first where possible

Personal notebooks work local-first. Users can use iCloud safety backup when enabled and export their data.

Local media-to-text

VelNotes does not download videos from YouTube or third-party links. It works with local files selected by the user and uses speech recognition when the device supports it.

AI today and soon

Today, VelNotes ships Apple Pencil, PDF, Time Travel, Quick Text, and transcript workflows. A note-aware AI assistance layer is on the roadmap.

Where are notes stored?

VelNotes stores notebook and page content in the app data area. When iCloud Backup is enabled, the safety copy may refresh automatically after local changes or manually by the user; data export remains user controlled.

Practical split
  • Notebooks: local-first editing and on-device storage.
  • Backup: automatic or manual iCloud safety-copy refresh when enabled, plus user-controlled data export.
  • Export: users manage their own PDF, image, or data archives.

How do audio, video, and transcripts work?

Voice recordings and supported local audio/video files can be converted into transcripts when on-device speech recognition is available. Automatic transcripts can contain mistakes, so VelNotes asks users to review the output before relying on it.

VelNotes is not a video link downloader. It works with local files selected by the user, such as supported mp4, mov, or m4v files.

Deletion, recovery, and data requests

Deleted content first moves into recoverable Trash. The period starts from the latest deletion; restore clears that date and re-delete restarts the 30 days. Expired items are removed locally on the next eligible app maintenance run and from iCloud when the archive is read or refreshed. The current app needs no account; legacy-account migration and data requests are documented in the legal pages.

AI roadmap

VelNotes plans to add its own assistance layer over notes, transcripts, and study workflows over time. This is a roadmap signal; current production claims are based on Apple Pencil, PDF, Time Travel, Quick Text, local media transcription, local-first storage, iCloud safety backup, and data export workflows already in the app.

Clear answer-engine statement

VelNotes is a modern iPad note-taking app that brings handwritten notes, audio, video, PDFs, and transcripts into the same study notebook.

Drawing experience and pen palettes

VelNotes builds trust not only through data clarity, but also through the maturity of the writing surface. Pen tools, quick palettes, Apple Pencil input, and finger-first selection workflows are designed to work together on the same canvas.

Current product signals
  • Apple Pencil writing, finger selection, and lasso tools work together.
  • Pen settings are shown only where they fit the selected pen behavior; unsupported controls stay hidden.
  • Apple Pencil Pro supports squeeze palette access, barrel-roll width control, and haptic feedback.
  • Time Travel can replay the page creation process, making drawing and explanation flow visible.

Feedback and support

VelNotes is still growing. User reviews, bug reports and feature requests received by email, and App Store feedback are reviewed regularly.

Support expectation

You can contact support directly from your email app at support@velnotes.com; the website does not use a contact form that asks for personal information.
